When the weather is nice, people in Clermont-Ferrand love to gather in the city’s green spaces, especially the Lecoq Garden, which is just a short walk from the MSH. It’s a great place to enjoy a picnic, chat on the grass, or relax in the shade of the trees, with the Auvergne Mountains in the background.

If you’re up for a walk with a view, Montjuzet Hill is a must. Easily reachable on foot from the city center, Montjuzet Hill offers stunning views of Clermont-Ferrand and the Chaîne des Puys—especially at sunset. The paths leading up to it can be a bit steep, so good walking shoes are recommended. Don’t worry: no snakes here—maybe just a few snails, if the weather’s damp. 😊

For a more urban vibe, you can wander around the historic city center, near the cathedral or Place de Jaude, which comes alive in the evening. Rue des Gras and the port district are full of charming cafés, wine bars, and lively terraces, which are perfect for relaxing with a local craft beer or enjoying a conversation that stretches into the night.

If you have a bit more time, you can head out to Royat or Chamalières, two leafy neighborhoods on the hillside that offer a peaceful escape from the city’s buzz.

Clermont-Ferrand may not have a castle perched on a hill, but its volcanoes are real, and the sunsets over the Puy de Dôme are unforgettable.

Enjoy your stay in Clermont-Ferrand!
